1. Why is this study considered a "natural experiment"?
A natural experiment happens when a policy or event creates a situation similar to a randomized trial, without researchers controlling it. Because people did not choose to have the schools built, the comparison between those who got more schooling and those who did not is less biased. World culture theory says global models drive education systems, while local-needs theory argues that each country's unique history, economy, and culture shape its schools. Using Bourdieu, you can compare how each education system values different forms of cultural capital.
